Meet the Scientific Minds Team

Classroom teachers know what I'm talking about when I mention the perfect team. You group your students for lab activities or cooperative learning projects. You walk around the classroom monitoring progress and encouraging students to stay on task. Then you walk past a team, pause and listen, and suddenly you hear the Rocky theme music and have the victorious feeling of just having completed the run up the iconic Philadelphia museum steps. Fist pump! The group is communicating respectfully, all are committed to the mission and share a common vision, they display a strong camaraderie, and each member contributes a unique talent for accomplishing the goal.

This is the way I feel about the Scientific Minds executive team. Committed to a common vision, and with individual strengths and talents, this small team has accomplished what larger teams have not.  Let me introduce them.

              Kathy Reeves

          President/Founder

This is me, of course.  I was a science teacher and founded Scientific Minds.  You can read more about my story in the welcome section and here.  When not working, I'm probably enjoying the Texas hill country and beautiful Lake Travis with my husband, Ken, while looking forward to visits from my three sons, daughter-in-law, and grandpups.

             Angie Casteel

        Director of Product
             Development

Angie has broad experiences in education from administering the Cuerpo de Cristo elementary school in Managua, Nicaragua to teaching remedial English and AP English to high school seniors. She also spent many happy years as an at-home mom raising her two girls, now grown and in college.  Here at Scientific Minds, Angie manages all product development, which involves planning and coordinating the work of on-site and off-site writers and reviewers as well as organizing and editing final products and updates. Angie's literacy expertise results in science education products that provide remarkable support for struggling students and English language learners.  When she isn't working, Angie is likely to be running, hiking, kayaking, or looking for an excuse to get back to her home state of Montana.

          Chelsea Tauzin

        Creative Director

Chelsea has a freelance background and the creative ability to do anything the team can imagine.  Educational graphics, videos, signs for marketing exhibits, and advertising materials are just a few of the things Chelsea spends her days developing.  As if that weren't enough, she also manages all Scientific Minds' social media!  From the great state of Louisiana, Chelsea duck hunts, knows how to hypnotize a crawfish, and has daily yoga sessions with her rescue pup Jetsan.

While our in-house team is small, there have been many, many highly talented people who have contributed to the educational products published by Scientific Minds. Teachers, professors, web developers, writers, voice-over artists, and former employees have all made valuable contributions that will continue to serve teachers and students for many years. I will always be grateful for each of them.

This is my dream team. What does yours look like?
